“Puye Prophecy” – Guardian Spirit
What Big Crow with Little feet saw were two men dressed completely in black and the crumpled form of an unconscious Katherine on the floor of the landing. The men were not men at all; they were evil spirits who came to eliminate the possibility of the prophecy coming to pass. Katherine and the baby she carried in her womb had to die.
Big Crow became more than a guide; he became a protector when he broke the necks of Kat’s attackers, shortly before they evaporated back into the ether. When Kat regained consciousness, Crow carried her in his powerful arms. Up until this point, he had never touched her.
Up until this point, she never wanted him to touch her. Now she clung to his heavy topcoat that smelled of smoke, burying her face into his chest and not wanting to be anyplace else.
