As an author, I receive a ton of unsolicited messages from a range of folks — many with no selling skills, tact, or limited capabilities — but plenty of praise and promises that almost read as though they were scripted—by an AI bot— to support trolling.
I delete many because they’ve done no pre-call planning. They know nothing about me, or my genre, or even if I’m published. Ten seconds on my Facebook page tells them those things, with links to my Amazon Author page, where everything is published and available… if they’d looked…if they weren’t simply trolling.
The unprepared earn a deletion. This morning was different. I received a tactful, polished solicitation from someone who had done their homework. I won’t share this person’s name until I’ve vetted her.

Love her words, but she (or her AI) only passed the scratch-and-sniff test with flowery words of praise, something every author likes to hear. Too often, they make promises that never materialize. I look forward to doing my due diligence.
