Does Called Equal Calling?

Our pastor mentioned an opportunity to engage in something for the community two Sundays ago. I’m not sure it was the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit, but I heard the call loud and clear to check it out.

My first reaction was based on my lack of capability, “Lord, I’m not a trained grief counselor.”

He said, “You are correct; however, you have been a facilitator for most of your adult life, or have you retired from adult life as well?”

Virtual slap…

He had a point, and after being humbled by offering a weak excuse, I reached out to Kari Rennekamp, the GriefShare Program Leader for Batesville. The next thing I know, I’m one of several Facilitators for the upcoming first session, beginning September 5th at Community Church of Batesville. I’m feeling jazzed to contribute to the Kingdom and help those suffering the loss of a loved one through this amazing 13-week program. I’m still not convinced it’s a calling…but I’m willing to listen.

If you know someone in the Batesville and surrounding area who may benefit from a program like this, please forward this message. Thanks in advance for spreading the word.
