Book #6 in the Dreamscape Conspiracy series is under a working title for now, but methinks it’s going to stick – “Undaunted.” Titles rarely come to me so early in the story development process. In this case, I felt that “Undaunted” was what Amelia Amethys needed to be if she had any chance of becoming organic. She had no life experience or past history to draw upon, but felt she was ready to step into the world and function as an organic. In theory, she had the intellect to sort many things out on the fly, but had her issues when human emotions, feelings, and spiritual influences were at play. The emotional context was limited and not something AIMEE could include with any depth in Amelia’s Logic Array. AIMEE was still learning herself, but she provided what she had experienced so far, and that was not going to be near enough.
This storyline still involves the usual cast of characters, but some may surprise you when they surface as a primary player. Dr. Celeste Killington is a perfect example, as evidenced by her interactions with Wayne, with whom she has a severe dislike. Wayne had every intention of building a bridge to overcome Celeste’s dislike, even as she tried to burn it down. Wayne was undaunted in his efforts and took a shock-and-awe approach, directly poking the bear.
When Cara discovers she is pregnant, AIMEE is secretly pleased because she has transitioned Russ and Cara into singularity with her. They share a conscience. They share emotional thoughts and feelings as they usually would, but AIMEE was there for all of it, learning the depths of experience and physiological sensations. Still, something was missing — the ability to experience touch.
The storyline, I believe, has a different feel in this book. Is that a good thing or a not-so-good thing? I guess we’ll see. I’m thinking about sharing a chapter at a time, like I did with “Untethered.” That seemed to be pretty popular.
