Author Thoughts on the Entity Named Paul in “Mirror Mirror” – 071425

071425 – Author Thoughts on the Entity Named Paul in “Mirror Mirror”

I shared thoughts on Dimensions used in Mirror Mirror in the 071225 post, so I won’t revisit that beyond placing this story’s Entity in the eleventh dimension, meaning the Entity can move between dimensions and parallel universes at will. It can shape-shift to any form it chooses. In this story, it presents with a male voice and an undefined form that was projected on the surface of the mirror.

It does not necessarily look like a man, but its voice in Sandy’s mind was male. How did it get onto…or…is it into…the mirror? The mirror must be touched by the person who possesses the book to summon the Entity. The mirror, when activated, becomes a portal through which the Entity can communicate, among other things. No spoilers here…

Everything began when Sandy, fascinated by the worn leather binding and faded lettering, reached out and pulled the book off the shelf, and it fell open in her hands.. There was a spiritual element that connected Sandy to the Entity through physical contact with the book. The Entity knew who Sandy was through the energy transferred to him via her touch. The 11-D Entity is pure energy. Energy can be shared and experienced through touch. In this case, the energy in the ancient tome, Mirror Mirror, was possessed by Sandy, but in reality, the Entity possessed Sandy; she just didn’t know it yet. To be honest, it wasn’t about the book any longer. He possessed her with or without the book.

The Entity comes off as the most proper gentleman, never showing much emotion. He is compassionate and empathetic, never judging, but one must remember he has the ability to destroy those exhibiting unrighteous behavior. He’s not harmless, but he’s committed to Sandy and to the extent of accepting the name Paul against his better wishes. He did not want the familiarity of having a name that was connected to a meaning that was special to his possessor. He did not want to take a step down the road to building a relationship with Sandy. A disaster in his distant past gave him reason to resist her request, to avoid repeating the same mistake. That worked until he softened and headed down the road he did not want to take. Where would it lead?
