Pharma Thugs

Pharma Thugs – Destroying the Psych Lab at CSU and everything in it proved not to be enough to satisfy Big Pharma’s not-so-subtle way of discouraging any further research. Even with total destruction, the attack failed because Dr. Cara Williams walked away.

So, what’s next? Go to Plan B, right? If she’s not at work, since work is now a smoking hole in the ground, she’ll be at home. Ending her at home should not have been a problem …until it was.

After making one screw up, to which a second is added, a pleasant conversation with the boss is not very appealing.

Here’s an excerpt of a conversation between the hit team’s handler and the Big Pharma client dancing to remain a shadow:

C.J. Franklin’s burner buzzed, causing her to flinch. This had better be good news, she thought to herself as she dug the phone out of her jacket pocket and saw the caller ID. “This better be good, Longstreet!” she snapped.

Maurine Taylor, the hit team handler, code name Longstreet, replied, “We have a problem!”

“Excuse me? We have a problem?” blurted the Assistant Director of Corporate Security for Androloc Pharmaceuticals. With biting sarcasm, she demanded, “Define this problem for me and how it could include this organization or me.”

“Our team failed to get the information you wanted, and they were unsuccessful in eliminating the target. My team lead was killed. Two team members were captured on site, and the state police picked up the fourth team member as he fled the scene.”

“I did not hear anything that could lead back to the company or me, so why have you come crying to me with your tail tucked between your legs?” Franklin continued the attack.

“The local news said the man who was killed and those captured had no identification,” explained Maurine.

“Okay, so why am I anticipating a but is coming?” asked C.J.

“Well, they said nothing about the team lead’s cell phone. He was the only one allowed to carry a phone.” Maurine explained.

“And it was a burner phone, right? Tell me it was an anonymous burner, Maurine.”

Hearing C.J. Franklin use her first name felt like a noose tightening around her neck. The feeling of becoming the hunted versus a contract hunter dawned on her like a lightning bolt.

“Yes, it was a burner, as you instructed. I’m concerned, however, that there might be a way to track text messages back to me from that phone, and if they can hack into my phone, it could reveal some phone numbers and email messages that we…” Maurine never finished her concerns before Franklin came entirely off the rails.”

Franklin jumped up from her chair and screamed into the phone, “Don’t tell me you used the same phone to call me that you used to communicate with your Keystone clusterfucking Cops. Tell me you did not use the same phone! Tell me none of our emails were on that same fucking phone. Tell me that, Maurine!”
