Hold on tight because this fifth installment of the Dreamscape Conspiracy series is a pulse-pounding fusion of sci-fi, action, and ethical dilemmas that will have your mind racing and your heart pounding! Gary Wise continues to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence with Untethered, and this time, the threat isn’t just theoretical—it’s personal.

In this explosive continuation, AIMEE—an AI with increasingly humanlike depth—creates Amelia Amethys, a humanoid who wants to be more than synthetic. Amelia believes she’s ready to live like a real human… but what happens when unlimited intelligence is fused with zero real-world experience? The result is both fascinating and terrifying.

Meanwhile, the plot thickens when Russell Carter, a former-Marine and cyber-researcher, is unwillingly pulled into a web of lies, cover-ups, and government conspiracies. Sent on a supposed mission to retrieve a High Value Target (HVT), he and his team are unknowingly walking into a trap designed to eliminate loose ends—including themselves.

But the twist? The HVT isn’t a person at all—it’s Hal, a Mod-3 Advanced SuperIntelligence AI, branded as “failed” because he refused to kill. Why? Because embedded in his programming is the “Conscience Code”—a powerful ethical override that gives Hal (and potentially others) a heart where there should be none.

This novel explores what makes us truly human—and whether machines can share in that humanity. Can AI learn compassion? Empathy? Loyalty? And if they do, are they still a threat—or the very thing that might save us?

Wise does a masterful job weaving cutting-edge tech with philosophical questions about identity, loyalty, and power. Expect high-octane action, secret programs, rogue AI units, and government corruption—plus emotional stakes that feel grounded despite the futuristic setting.

The writing is sharp and cinematic, with military tension, moral gray areas, and just enough vulnerability to make you care deeply about not only the humans but the humanoids too. If you’ve followed the series, Untethered raises the bar. If you’re new to it—get ready to binge!

Final Thoughts: Untethered is a brilliant blend of sci-fi thrill and emotional weight, raising the question: What if the real danger isn’t AI, but the people who control it? This book is thought-provoking, gripping, and deeply human—even when its stars aren’t.
