Mirror Mirror: Halloween Party of the Century is a testament to the unpredictable journey of storytelling. It all started with a party celebrating Halloween as a modest 3,000-word short story eight years ago. In early 2023, my relentless Wench Muse put her knees in my chest, leaned down, and whispered, “There’s more story to tell, mate,” and the story blossomed into my first novel.
The reviews have all been five stars, but this review in particular is short, and I’m flattered by so few words communicating so much for several reasons:
- I love the reader’s choice of title for his review, “Chilling and Spooked.” That is such a satisfying compliment for an author to hear.
- Patrick S. aptly described the reading experience of Mirror Mirror as “fast.” This pace is not just a measure of the speed of the actions that befall the protagonist, Sandy Tillman, but also reflects the gripping narrative. This storyline is difficult to stop reading and just walk away.
- “Read during the day” as opposed to reading at night? Wonder why? Maybe it’s because an entity from the 11th dimension connects with Sandy through extraordinary means; some might label this as horror. I don’t see horror as much as I see paranormal. Spooky either way, I suppose.
- “Super creepy” is a reader’s opinion, and I like it. What would you do if you ran into yourself in a parallel universe after being warned to avoid contact? Creepy, right?
- “Very well written” is the ultimate compliment to hear. Thank you, Patrick S.
