Confessions of a Performance Ninja: Optimizing Workforce Performance at Point-of-Work
It feels good to look in the mirror and see an author grinning back at me. Yes, it officially happened yesterday…searching for “Confessions of a Performance Ninja” on Amazon, my first book appeared. This is a major milestone and another bucket list item to check off. My Learning & Development career has been filled with many things worthy of confession, especially my passionate pursuit of the “Point-of-Work Discipline.” That effort has been rewarding and frustrating but worth all successes and failures. This book is about one Ninja’s adoption journey with confessions of wins and losses. I intend for this book to assist any L&D organization choosing to adopt an in-house “Point-of-Work” version of their own to avoid some of the landmines I discovered along the way.
In this book, I advocate a strategic re-think of adopting Workflow Performance principles that accomplish the essential Discovery using a Point-of-Work Assessment (PWA) as “Pre-Design Solution Road Mapping” at Points-of-Work essential for ISD design, development, and contextual delivery of Learning Performance Assets in the Workflow. PWA is not a design tool. PWA isolates performance restrainers to optimize design using existing agile design methodologies.
The PWA adoption journey has been mostly an uphill endeavor. Still, the methodology has worked in in-house experiences despite having to work covertly at times and often seeking forgiveness versus permission. That evolved approach takes determined Ninja tactics, including black pajamas and cheap sunglasses…not included with the purchase of this book.
